Lee Elden Dillion

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lee Elden Dillion, who departed this life peacefully on May 24th, 2025 at the age of 83.

Lee was born on August 15,1941 in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Anna Poole and Joe Dillion and later raised with love by his mother, step-father Euewell “Gabby” Cochran, and his Aunty Betty and Uncle Tom, all of whom preceded him in death.

Throughout life , Lee was known for his love for teaching. He retired in 2006 as a Construction Trade Teacher with the Vigo County School Corporation. He also was a local Contractor that built several unique and beautiful homes.  He was a founding board member of the Vigo County Construction Trades program, and a past president of the local home builders association.  In his spare time he loved racing with his sons and later his grandchildren. Lee was inducted into the THQMA Hall of Fame in 2019 . He also loved spending time with his family and friends.  

Lee was married to Dorothy Volkers, the late Marycele Dillion, and the late Kim Dillion.

He was a devoted and loving parent to children: Brian (Paula), Doug (Terri ), Scott (Stephanie), Gregg (Gina). Grandchildren: Nathan ( Breanna), Benjamin ( Mackenzie), Olivia Lundin (Nate), Douglas (Tasidee), Lanee, Carson, the late Meg, Kennidy, Callista, and Carter.  Great grandchildren : Boston, Declyn, and Lincoln.  He is survived by beloved siblings Bob Dillion (Judy), the late Paul Cochran, Susan Buell (Paul), Mark Poole (Angie), and several nieces and nephews. Lee is also survived by his special friend Kathleen .

Lee leaves behind a legacy of exceptional work ethic, and kindness for others.  He did not know a stranger and would help anyone in need.  

Visitation will be held at Greiner Funeral Home on Thursday, May 29th from 3:00pm-5:00pm with a funeral service to follow.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Vigo County Education Foundation to be used for Career and Technical Education mini-grants.
