Linda Marie (Lenges) Byrd

Linda Marie Lenges Byrd, age 63, of West Terre Haute, left her earthly body to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, October 14th, 2021, she was surrounded by family at the time of her passing. Linda was born on November 19th, 1957, to James August “Auggie” and Virginia Mae “Ginnie” (Schulte) Lenges of West Terre Haute, Indiana.  Linda leaves behind that which she held most dear, her husband of 41 years Gary Byrd, sons Justin, Jordan (Tiffany) and daughter Virginia Byrd, her beloved grandchildren Mackenze Byrd, Malaki Marks, Emma, Lilly, Grace, Cort and Amelia Byrd, her brother John Lenges (much loved sister-in-law Ann), sisters in crime Judy Crane and Carolyn Kemper, Brother and sister-in-law Garry and Donna Selvia, sister in-law Judy (Carlos) Teran, many cousins she loved as siblings, her adored nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.   

She is proceeded in death by her mother and father, older sister Darlene Brown, father and mother-in-law Clarence Edward and Mary Elizabeth (Allsup) Byrd, greatly loved Aunt Helen and Uncle Tom Terstegge, Uncle Larry (Florence “Babe”) Schulte, and Uncle Fred Schulte, and her precious niece Rebecca Aaron Lenges. 

Linda retired from loss prevention with the Bon-Ton Corporation after 20 plus years of service, she previously worked at the Sycamore Agency and the Vigo County Clerk’s office. She graduated from Indiana State University, and was a West Vigo High School class of 1976 alumni. In recent years Linda donated her time to the United Child Care Center, where she gained many amazing friends and “grandchildren”. Linda’s favorite hobbies included “treasure hunting”/collecting antiques, crafting, sewing and saving and loving lost souls mostly our furry friends and occasionally those of human form.  

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Linda Byrd to the Terre Haute Humane Society and the United Child Care Center in Terre Haute, Indiana.  

Services for Linda will be Wednesday October 20, 2021 at 3 pm in Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana, 47804. Visitation will be from 1 pm until service time and be presided over by Reverend Garry Selvia, Sr, after which there will be an intimate gathering of family and friends at John and Ann Lenges’ Home.
