Marcella Reed Obituary

Marcella Joy Reed, 92, of Paris, Illinois formerly of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on May 10, 2025. She was born on January 23, 1933, in Redmon, Illinois to Edward Glen Gifford and Muriel Joy (Carrington) Gifford. Marcella was a member of Redmon Christian Church. Marcella’s favorite past time was playing Skipbo, a card game.  Her favorite pet was a skunk named Bozo. She loved animals, cats especially. Marcella was dedicated to Gospel Music. She graduated from Redmon High School in 1951. She worked at Wolf’s in Paris, Illinois, Western Union in Oak Park, Illinois, and Wells Fargo as a Wire Operator in Terre Haute, Indiana, for 50 years. She scheduled singing engagements for Open Heart Quartet in Bedford, Indiana, and retired in 2008. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Larky Reed; brother Willis Edward “Bill” Gifford (Carol and Dena): sisters Mary Ramona Markewitz (Gene) and Jean Ward (Wayne); stepchildren Dennis Reed, Sandra Bealmer, and Steven Reed and nephews and niece Pam Reid, Michael Markewitz and Jerry Sparks. She is survived by her step children Ginger Reed Elmore (John), Robert Franklin Reed, Pamela Bealmear; 36 step grandchildren; several step great grandchildren; nieces and nephews Marquita Eckerty (Don), Rebecca Krabel (Dave), Charlie Markewitz (Christine), Larry Markewitz, Katrina Cooper (Jim), Barbara Markewitz, Bud Ward (Karla), Donna Lutz (Mike), Roger Ward, and Carla Briggs (Ken). Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 12:00p.m. in Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana, 47804. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday, from 10:00a.m. until service time. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Redmon Christian Church.
