Marie (Higginbothom) Loyd

Marie Loyd, 92, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on September 13, 2024 at her home, peacefully with her family by her side.  She was born April 11, 1932, to William Higginbotham and Arbell (Runyan) Higginbotham.  Marie worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Ann’s Hospital and was co-owner of Loyd Excavating, Inc. with her husband before she decided to become a stay-at-home mom to raise her daughter.  She was married to the love of her life for 64 years.  She loved to travel and  family and friends were very important to her.  Marie was a wonderful mother and a phenomenal grandmother.  She was a well-respected woman who had so much love in her heart. She is survived by her daughter, Marsha Loyd; granddaughter, Tracey Loyd Deverick (Rick); great-grandchildren Gage Haase, Alyssa Hensley, Abbigail Deverick, and Robert Deverick; great-great-grandchildren, Kyah Moore, Kayson Moore, Laylynn McCalister, and another one on the way; her sister, Shirley Cowan, her adopted daughter, Cindy (Grizzle) Faught; adopted granddaughter, Amanda (Kull) Bauer; and several nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her true love of 64 years, Harold E. Loyd; her brother, Leland Higginbotham; son-in-law, Jim McDowell; sister-in-law, Donna Higginbotham; and many more.  Funeral services will be held Monday, September 23, 2024, at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St., Terre Haute, Indiana, 47804.  Visitation starts at 11:00am with services starting at 1:00pm.  Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.  Pastor Dennis “Butch” Leek will be officiating.
