Marlene Rose Waters, age 91, died peacefully at home on May 8, 2025. She was born on July 27, 1933, in Fontanet, Indiana to Emmett Herb and Hazel Greek Herb. Marlene is survived by her husband of 74 years, John C Waters; her son and daughter-in-law, John J and Penny Waters of Cartersville, Georgia; her granddaughters and their families also of Cartersville, Abbey and Charlie Culverhouse (Anna Jo and Henry) and Kenzie Waters and Michael Black (Cameron); her daughter, Connie Waters of Terre Haute; her sister, Marietta Cooper of Rosedale, Indiana and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Charles Herb, and several sisters-in-laws, and brothers-in laws.
Marlene was a wonderful wife, mother, Grams, GM, and MawMaw. She was fiercely in love with her family and verbally expressed daily gratitude for each. Her sweet gentle spirit has left an indelible impression on all who loved her. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of Hospice of the Wabash Valley for their excellent care for the past two years and Tracy's Girls (Martha G. and Connie M.). Greiner Funeral Home assisted with cremation. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Greiner Funeral Home at 2005 N. 13th Street. A memorial service will begin at 2:30 on Saturday with Pastor Lowell Gisel officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
