Mary Schaffer Obituary

Mary C. Schaffer, 92, of Terre Haute, passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at the Cobblestone Health and Rehabilitation Health Campus. Mary was born on August 15, 1928, in Fontanet, IN, to Clyde C. Kersey and Marcele Fern Trout Kersey. She was the former owner of Popular Subscription Service in Terre Haute, where she led a team of devoted employees for nearly four decades and worked with hundreds of schools, universities, libraries, and corporations across the country to fulfill thousands of periodical subscriptions. She was a member of The Country Club of Terre Haute and served as a board member of the Honey Creek-Vigo Conservancy District. Mary was a skillful cook - a talent she learned from her mom and grandma - and enjoyed decorating her home and entertaining guests.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Sue Clark, and her husband Louis P. Schaffer. She is survived by one daughter Tammy Shike, and her husband Paul of Terre Haute. She is survived by one granddaughter Taylor Schaffer of Indianapolis. She is survived by two sisters Gladys Frederick and Donna Jean Loudermilk, both of Terre Haute; two brothers Clyde Kersey and his wife Susie of Terre Haute, and James Kersey and his wife Ruth Ann of Clinton, IN; as well as several nieces and nephews. Private entombment was held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pastor Brett Wilson officiated. The family suggests that contributions be made to The Swope Art Museum or Indiana State University Athletics.
