Mary Kay Obituary

“Trouble, heartaches and pain will be over, there will be no more weeping- it will all be over and I will shout hallelujah by and by” Mary Katherine Kay, 72, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away November 10, 2022.  She was born August 21, 1950 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Henrietta Kay and Dallas Kay.  She attended First Freewill Baptist.  She held membership with the NAACP, Eastern Star, also she was an active member of Freewill Baptist Kentucky annual. Mary Kay was known to be selflessness, always in service to others, and also generous. She had a great sense of humor, and most importantly she was a devout Christian. Mary Kay had many names; Mom, Ms. Kay, Mary, Gummuddie, but none more so profound than “Sissie”. Among family that was her name. She always kept a house full of children or folks who were in need. And all who lived or passes through her home knew they had one rule to follow, “As for me and for me and my house we will serve the lord. Joshua 24:15”. Mary Kay graduated from Wiley High School and went on to graduate from Indiana State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. She retired from both the State of Indiana after 22 years in Child Protective Services and also 22 years at Indiana State University, where she started in 1995.  She was precede in death by her Mother Henrietta Kay, Father Dallas Kay, Sister Kathleen Long, and Nephew William Long.  Mary Kay is survived by her Son- Dallas Kay and Wife Ebony Kay; Daughter Kara Kay; Grandchildren Demarcus Smith, Langston Kay, Harvie Kay, Stokley Kay, Logan Kay; Nieces Tammy Long, Anika Boyd, Tamina Long; Nephews Lenny Boyd, Tony Boyd, Jarrod Boyd, Ricco Spencer Jr. Nathaniel Housley, Ian Long, Aaron Wells; Special Daughter Leslinda Wilson; and Special Son Richie Adderley.  Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00p.m., Saturday, November 19th, 2022, in St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1000 South 15th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana 47807.  Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the church on Saturday, from 11:00a.m.  until service time.
