Mary Jane Monninger born April 4th 1940 passed away October 2nd 2025
peacefully, surrounded by the lord and the love of her family. She will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the many ways she made life beautiful for those around her.
Mary Jane found great joy in the simple pleasures of life—gardening, cooking, shopping, decorating her home, and feeding her birds. But above all else, her greatest love was her family. She poured her heart into every gathering, every meal, and every moment shared with those she loved most.
She retired from First Financial’s Commercial Loan Department, where she dedicated many years of service, and later enjoyed a part-time position with Stein Mart, where her friendly nature and sense of style showed through.
Mary Jane was an active member of the Herb Society and participated in her high school band, reflecting her lifelong appreciation for learning, creativity, and community.
She is survived by her daughter Melissa Sims (Kenny), grandchildren Kandi Woolley (Richard), Alexis Sims (Lance Deglandon), Kyle Sims (Paige), and Peyton Sims (Alyssa); and great-grandchildren Gage Hutson (Brianna), Sebashtian Sims, Haley Sims, Kinsley Sims, James Sims, Presley Sims, Jonah Sims, Desmond Deglandon, and Chastin Deglandon. She was also blessed with a great-great-granddaughter, Ruby Hutson.
Mary Jane is also survived by her sister Nancy McClintock (John) and nephew Mike McClintock (Amy).
She was preceded in death by her parents Margaret and Leon Blakely, her husband Richard Monninger, her son Steve Downing, her grandson Kenneth Sims Jr., and her great-grandson Aiden Northcutt.
Mary Jane’s life was a reflection of love, compassion, and dedication to family. Her joyful spirit and generous heart will be dearly missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She also attended The First Church of the Nazarene, and New Life fellowship.
