Mary Ellen Staggs, 89, of Terre Haute, passed away Tuesday, May 25th, 2021, in her residence surrounded by her family. Mary Ellen was born in Terre Haute on September 8, 1931, to Edgar Kraemer and Geneva Richey Kraemer. She was retired from the Vigo County School Corporation after many years as school secretary. She began her career at Riley Elementary then moved to Pimento School and retired from Hoosier Prairie School. She and her husband were charter members of the original Wabash Valley Model “A” Club which later became the Sycamore “A’s”. She was also a former member of the Wabash Valley Antique and Classic Car Club. They enjoyed many years of collecting and traveling in antique cars across the country and our local community. She was a very talented seamstress and enjoyed crafts. She and her husband enjoyed spending the winters in Florida and traveling in their RV visiting friends and family along the way. Most of all, she enjoyed being a wife, mother and especially a grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband William H. “Bill” Staggs whom she married January 14, 1950 at Oak Hill Church in Riley. She is survived by one son Darrell Staggs (Patti) of Mooresville, IN; two daughters: Debbie Stoehr of Conroe, Texas, and Sharon Lofton (Mark) of Fishers, IN. She is survived by grandchildren; Blake Stoehr (Angela), Chris Stoehr (Jenny), Patrick Staggs (Shannon), Adam Staggs, Griffin Staggs, April Lofton Daniele (Greg) and Libby Barker (Josh). She is survived by seventeen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Services are scheduled for Saturday, May 29, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47804. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Linwood Andrews will be officiating. Burial will take place at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
