Mary Johanna Moore Madison

Mary Johanna Moore Madison, 96, of Terre Haute, Indiana departed life September 1, 2021 in her home.  She was born in Culver, Indiana on April 27, 1925 to Helen Tyler Moore and William D. Moore.  On May 11, 1952, she married Heavin “Toby” Madison to that union, there were 3 daughters.  Helen Lynette Shepard Goins, Julia A. Madison, Tresa L. Madison, and two enduring daughters Brenda Underwood (Johnny).  Mary was a homemaker as well as a foster parent for over 40 years.  She took in and cared for over 125 children, and at times, entire families.  Mary also worked part time for several prominent families, helping raise their children.  Mary had a love for antiques that never got old, she was always looking for more to add to her extensive collection.  Mary J. Madison leaves to cherish her memory one daughter Julia A. Madison. One enduring daughter Brenda Underwood (Johnny); Mary’s grandchildren and great grandchildren Gary Goins (Tuyet), Michael, Paris, Karren Goins, Harold “Trey” Haggerty, Alysia Haggerty, John Haggerty, Shawna Goins Benford, Sydney Goins, Jade Brown, Sean Benford, Malik Benford, and Narissa Goins, Christine Taylor, Montrell White, Diamond Wiley, Benjamin Wade, Bianca Wade, and Barry Wade.  Also several great great grandkids, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Heavin “Toby” Madison, 2 daughters Helen Lynette Goins and Tresa L. Madison, bother parents, 4 sisters, 1 brother, and 1 great grandson.  Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, September 4, 2021, in Greiner Funeral Home, at 1:00p.m.  William Morris will officiate.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday, from 11:00a.m. until service time. The family is asking and appreciates everyone to please wear and mask.
