Michael Howard Leistner

Michael Howard Leistner, 66, of Pendleton, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his brother’s home on July 9, 2025.  He was born in Tell City, Indiana, on October 17, 1958, to Howard Leistner and Sandra (Pavey) Leistner.

Michael will be remembered as a genuinely good person. He was a friend to many and never got upset at anything or anyone. He had many childhood friends  John Seprodi, Rick Mascari, Mike Conway and Michael Dean who he spent his time traveling, hiking, camping, attending concerts, sporting events and many  family gatherings. Michael attended St. Pats grade school and Schulte High School, where he ran cross country and was a part of the team that led them to the State Finals. He graduated from ISU during the Larry Bird era. He traveled with his buddies to see the final game against Michigan State. Michael was the best basketball shooter out of his friends and held a record at the Boys Club. He was the happiest when he was around his cousins, Phil, Candy, Nancy, Jodi and Beth. Also his special friends, who he thought of as family. Kevin Pflum, Janelle Pflum, Ashton Pflum, Reagan Finley, Noah Rodney and Alia Rodney. Michael showed his support and enthusiasm at the kids’ sporting events.

Michael had a love of art and enjoyed painting in his spare time. Michael was so knowledgeable. He was the one you wanted on your Trivial Pursuit team. He enjoyed watching all sports, but was a long time fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Indiana University, Indianapolis Colts and The Green Bay Packers (unless they were playing against the Colts). He also enjoyed watching westerns, classic television programs and game shows including  The Simpsons, and South Park. He listened to the Dan Patrick Show every morning and other pod casts at night. He loved listening to all types of music but mostly the classic rock bands like The Beatles, Queen & Moody Blues being amongst his favorites.

 He was preceded in death by his mother and sisters Le Ann and Jill DeLynn.  He is survived by his brother Brad Leistner (Shannon); father Howard Leistner (Janet) and special fur babies Dart and Lucy

A celebration of life will be on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 1:00p.m. in Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N 13th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana, 47804.  Family and friends are invited to come and visit with his family from 11:00a.m. until service time.  If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association.
