Muriel S. Allen, passed away on August 9, 2024. She was born on May 1, 1957 in Chicago,
IL to the late Chester Allen Sr. and Vera Allen (Scott).
Muriel had two sons, Louis Allen and Lance Debouse
Sr., and one daughter, Jessica Turner (Lowery).
Muriel worked as a server and did housekeeping until
she became ill working as a housekeeper in a
healthcare facility.
Muriel enjoyed going out and about, playing video or
phone games, talking to friends, and spending time
with family. Her love for cooking and delicious food is
what brought everyone together. Muriel never left
anyone out or behind, therefore she took in a lot of
“strays” as she would say, but those people were
treated like family and will always be family.
Muriel was like the black sheep and did her own thing, but if you knew her, you’d know
how selfless she was. She was always the one who picked up the pieces and made
something out of nothing. She was the one who always took people in and cared for
everyone, even when she had absolutely nothing, and that stayed true until her last
moments on Earth.
Muriel was preceded in death by her parents Chester and Vera Allen, brothers Chester
Allen Jr., Kenneth Allen, Alvin Allen, and Larry Allen, and sister Rita Allen, and a son
Louis Allen.
Muriel leaves fond memories to be cherished by her son Lance Debouse, daughter
Jessica Turner (Andgrie); her sisters Allegra Allen, Sandra Shepard, Elaine Manual, and
Marcia Allen-Ward (David); grandchildren Yasmin Debouse, Laresha Johnson,
Lavantee’ Lowery, Lance Debouse Jr., Marissa Debouse, Kahlil Lowery, Michael Gabriel
Debouse; and her great grandchildren Nevaeh Elkins, Deacon Elkins, Melani Lowery,
and River Elkins. She also leaves to cherish her memory many nephews, nieces,
adopted children, and special friend, Jackie Grady, and special daughter, Sarah
Carpenter.
