Nancy R. Ellis, 75, of Terre Haute, passed away Friday, April 15, 2022 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital surrounded by her family. Nancy was born on March 8, 1947 in Terre Haute to Samuel Scott Mooneyham and Loretta Johnson Mooneyham. Nancy was a longtime member of Saint George Orthodox Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Society and the choir. She was a graduate of Indiana State University where she received her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees. She was a retired teacher where she taught for the Vigo County School Corporation at Chauncey Rose and Otter Creek. She had previously taught at St. Patrick School. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working in her garden. She was a longtime member of a group of teachers that played cards which she enjoyed greatly. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Michael C. Ellis, whom she married August 16, 1970. She is survived by one daughter, Katherine Ellis of Terre Haute; and a son, Christopher Ellis (Jacqueline), also of Terre Haute. She is survived by a sister, Judy Luther of Plainfield, IN; and a brother in-law, Carl Ellis of Ft. Wayne, IN. She is survived by grandchildren, Ian Neice, Elizabeth Niece and Jake Ellis. Survivors also include nieces and nephews, Andrea Ellis (Gabriel), Griffin Scremin, Elliot Scremin, Paul Ellis (Bess), Oliver Ellis and Hazel Ellis. She is survived by a God son, Nick Hester; and cousins, Patti Maloof, Charles Maloof and Judy Serkosky. Services are Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. George Orthodox Church, 1900 South 4th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47802. Visitation will be on Monday, April 18, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47804, and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. V. Rev. Fr. Amin Houli, the Rev. Archdeacon Elias Corey and V. Rev. Fr. Anthony Yazge will be officiating. Burial will be at Highland Lawn Cemetery.
