Norma Garrett Obituary

Norma Jean Wilson Garrett was born on March 1, 1942 in Praireiton Township of Vigo County to her loving parents Arnold Wilson and Willa Lula Ackers.

Norma moved to Terre Haute after completing elementary and junior high school.  She graduated from Gerstmeyer Technical High School in 1959.

Norma married the love of her life Harrold Lee Garrett Sr in 1968 and they raised three beautiful daughters. Norma accepted Christ at an early age and later became a faithful member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.

Norma was a hard worker and very professional.  She worked at Midland Glass as a foreman of operations; Woodrow Wilson Jr. High School as a teacher for the school suspension department.  She retired after working for nine years at the Harrison Trustee Department.

Norma became a dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star Bethlehem Chapter 6 O.E.S. Indiana Jurisdiction on March 14, 1980.  She served many stations and was elected as the Worthy Matron of the Chapter.  In 2014 she was Demitted to Queen Esther Number 5 O.E.S, where she served as the Queen Esther Treasure.  In 1982, at the local level, Norma belonged to the Eternal Court #5 Heroines of Jericho.  Norma was elected the Grand Most Ancient Matron of Alpha Grand Court for the Heroines of Jericho Jurisdiction of Indiana from 2002 through 2004.  She served over the entire State of Indiana.  She served faithfully and it was a great honor for the Terre Haute Chapter.

Norma Jean Wilson Garrett was surrounded by her loving family on October 14, 2020 when she left here earthly body.  Norma leaves to cherish her life, her beloved husband of 52 years Harold Lee Garrett Sr., her daughters Rebecca Lawson (Dwayne), Darla Wood (Herman), and Angela Garrett; Grandchildren Paryis, Otis, Dwayne Jr., Bryce, Brielle, Orion, Dorcas, Devin, Dawn; Great grandchildren Rylon, Maliayah, Rico, Gabrielle, Xavior, Elaiyah, Angelina, Addison, Aaron.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents Arnold and Lula Wilson, her son Harold Lee Garrett Jr., four brothers Fred Wilson, Donald Wilson, Ronald Wilson and Thomas Wilson.

Celebration of life service will be October 24, 2020 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist church, 2401 7th Ave. Terre Haute, IN.  Visitation 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, service to follow, officiating Reverend Michael Russell.
