Paul Andrew Flak, 46, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024, from cancer. He was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, on February 3, 1978, to John Anthony Flak and Jean (Pittman) Flak.
Known for his humorous stories, quick wit, and keen intelligence, Paul was adored by his nieces, nephews, siblings, and friends. He is remembered as someone who loved fishing, collecting coins, and cheering on his Alabama football team. He started fishing at a young age at Mill Dam, and later in life, translated his love of nature into working in his yard and cultivating his many plants. As a numismatist, Paul took great pride in researching, collecting, and telling the stories of his impressive rare-coin collection. Recently, he fulfilled his life-long dream to visit the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Paul could always be found on a Saturday afternoon cheering on the Crimson Tide, and when he was not watching football, he was playing and winning pool games across town. A 1996 Terre Haute North Vigo High School graduate, Paul worked for Sappington and Sons Moving Company, Great Dane, and as a bartender at the Dew Drop Inn.
He is survived by his mother Jean Flak; siblings Ann Fischer, John Flak (Jenny Burkholder); Anthony Flak (Melissa); and Joseph Flak (Melisa); his nieces and nephews Tayler and Devon Fischer; Dylan and Harper Flak; Colleen, Justin, Elijah (Sabrina), Lacy, and Levi Flak; and Barbara Jo and Jacob Flak (Brooke); and his great nieces and nephews Hayden, Sophia, Nova and Senna Flak and Gavin Crone. Paul was preceded in death by his father John Anthony Flak and his nephew James Flak.
In honoring Paul’s wishes, cremation has been chosen. Private family services will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held at The Wagon Wheel Bar on July 18, 2025.
