Rebecca “Becky” Sappington
It is with great sadness that we announce that the Lord called Rebecca home after an unexpected
decline in health, on August 18, 2025, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. She was just 57 years young.
She was surrounded by her loving family when she made the journey into the arms of our Heavenly
Father. Rebecca was born on May 17, 1968, at St. Anthony’s Hospital to Richard Lawson and Merrillee
Lawson-Armour. Rebecca was a loving wife and mother and a friend to all. She loved to travel, have a
good meal, watch Court TV, gather together with family, and cooking. Rebecca loved her children
unconditionally. Being a mother was one of her greatest joys in life. From school events, activities,
karate, baseball, and recitals, she never missed anything. Her warmth and laughter lit up a room and will
truly be missed. She always made sure that everyone around her felt loved and cared for. She was the
lighthouse in everyone’s storm – “a beacon of hope.” Rebecca was also an accomplished heart monitor
technician with 20+ years’ experience in the medical field as well as graduating from Ivy Tech with two
business degrees and a paralegal degree. She was saved and baptized and now smiling down from
above. She enjoyed diamond art, puzzles, and her dog Belle. Rebecca is survived by her husband Chris; three sons – Dustin, Sam, and Connor; two daughters –
Kaela and Camdyn; two daughters-in-law – Sarah and Jackie; one son-in-law – Zack; and eight
grandchildren – Landon, Addison, Noah, Murphy, Logan, Braedyn, Breanna, and Lance. She is also
survived by her mother, Marylee; her stepmother, Linda; a brother, Barry; a sister, Shanna; and her
step siblings. Rebecca is preceded in death by her father, Richard; grandparents, Calvin and Bernice
Lawson, John and Bunny Koons, and Frances Koons. We take comfort in John 16:22, which reads,
“Therefore, you too have grief now. But I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and no one will
take your joy away from you.”
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at1:00p.m. in Greiner Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 11:00a.m. until service time. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kidney Cancer Foundation. These funds go towards research, hoping that one day, someone will not have to go thru this.
