Richard Lee Acton

Richard Lee Acton, 89, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on October 6, 2025, in his residence, with his loving family by his side.  Richard was born on February 15, 1936, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Herschel Acton and Nellie (Compton) Acton. He was 1955 graduate of Honey Creek High School. He later received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Indiana State University. He served as an Industrial Arts Teacher at Hutsonville High School.  He later went on to work at Ivy Hill, where he retired as a Maintenance Supervisor. Richard was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force as a member of the 181st Indiana Air National Guard for 29 years.  Richard enjoyed 34 wonderful years of retirement. During retirement Richard enjoyed traveling the world with his wife of 56 years, Edith (Bundy) Acton who survives him, spending time visiting his three children, and fishing with his grandchildren.  Richard was a fun-loving, generous man who would take time to help anyone who needed it. He enjoyed being outdoors and working with his hands.  Richard was a member of Cross lane Community Church.  Along with his wife, Edith, he is survived by his three children James Acton (Terri), Deborah Strange (Jon), and Angela Owen (Daniel); 8 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sibling Paul Acton.  He was preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings.  Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday, October 11th. Visitation will be from 12 to 2pm with a service beginning at 2pm, at Cross Lane Community Church, 204 Lafayette Ave, Terre Haute, Indiana, 47805. Friends and family members are welcome to a luncheon following the service. Donations in his honor may be made to Cross Lane Community Church.
