Richard W. Pound, 83, of Terre Haute, passed away August 29, 2023 in Gibson Family Hospice. Richard was born March 6, 1940 in Blackhawk, IN, to Herbert Pound and Dorothy Pound. He retired from Wabash Fibre Box in 1998, he worked in private security including at the Terre Haute Skate Center where he was known as RC.  He was a 1958 graduate of Blackhawk High School. He was a US Army Veteran serving in the National Guard in Brazil, IN from 1957 to 1960 then joined the US Air Force serving at Kirtland AFB from 1961 to 1965 and retiring from the USAFNG 181st Hulman Field in 1998 where he began his career in 1973. He was a member of Blackhawk Community Church from childhood until 1978, then joining World Gospel Church from 1978 until 2009, Grace Community Church from 2009 until present. He traveled the world with the Air Guard and World Gospel Church mission trips incuding, Hawaii, Netherlands, Germany, Columbia, Honduras, Argentina, Bolivia and many other countries. He loved the mountains and taking pictures. Most importantly he loved his family and helping and encouraging his friends. He lived the last few years at Westridge Health Care Center where he was an agitator and encourager, a jokester and helper, an aggravator and a missionary, and above all, a faithful friend. We are so very grateful for the care and most importantly the love he received and gave there. One of his great joys was to pass out Gideon New Testaments. Therefore, family is suggesting that donations be made to the organization in lieu of flowers. He was preceded in death by his parents, his parents in –law, Sumner and Lenore Kyle, a brother, James Pound, sister in-law, Karen Kyle Sagraves, a son David Pound and his wife, Phyllis Pound, November 9, 2022. He is survived by a daughter, Diana Mahurin, (Doug), a son, Danny Pound. Grandchildren; Maggie (Kurt) Schuetz, Megan Stevenson (Dustin), Bethany (Adam Mathis) and Rachel Kimberly Pound Wilson. Great granddaughters; Ana Norris and Raya Stevenson. Nieces; Jamie (Paul) Williams (Brian and Chelsea), Mandy Kyle, Sara (Clint) Johnson (Jenna and Jason, Lisa Sagraves Meehan (Olivia) and sisters in-law Sherry and Betty Pound. Service are Wednesday September 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.  at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47804, with visitation on Tuesday September 5, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
