Richard Stephens Obituary

Richard Allan Stephens, 82, of Tomball Texas passed away February 10, 2025.  He was born July 4, 1942, in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late Orville Wright Stephens and Dorothy Mae (Myers) Stephens.

 

He is survived by his wife Sharon Carol Stephens, son John R. Stephens, son James A. Stephens (and wife), son Robert A. Stephens (and wife), daughter Rebecca L. Woods (and husband); his 17 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and cousins.

 

Throughout his life he was passionate about family, history, travel, and service to others. After college he enlisted in the US Navy. Then upon returning to Terre Haute he became president of Mid-West Oil Co. and Steco Inc. He was a 4th generation member of Maplewood Christian church, where he served as a deacon. Also volunteering as a member and past president of the Terre Haute Exchange Club, a Board member of the Historical Society, as well as a member of the Elks Club.

 

The family will receive visitors Monday Feb. 17th, 2025 from 5-7pm at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, Feb 18, 2025 at 11am at the funeral home.  Visitation will also be held before the service from 10am until service time.  Interment to follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.

 

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Vigo County Historical Society.
