Rita Agnes Pound, 92, of Terre Haute, passed away Friday October 13, 2023 at Hutsonwood in Brazil, IN. Rita was born in Terre Haute to Joseph (Zdrojewski) Drisko and Mary Pearl (Hall) Drisko on February 14, 1931.
Rita was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church where she also attended school through the 8th grade. She went on to attend school at Otter Creek through the 10th grade.
Rita married the love of her life, Gerald Ray Pound, on May 13, 1954. She was married a short 18 years and 8 months before she was widowed at the young age of 41. She never remarried or had children of her own but treated several nieces and nephews as if they were her own.
She worked at Quaker Maid in Terre Haute for 37 years before they closed down and she went on to work at and retire from Bemis. After retirement she kept busy by working at a family owned business until she was the age of 82.
Rita loved playing bingo, cards, watching game shows and basketball, especially the Pacers. But, most of all, she loved spending time with her family and always enjoyed canning with them in the summer. Rita was a funny, kind-hearted, grateful woman who dearly loved her family and in return, her family dearly loved her. She will be greatly missed.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, siblings; Mary Sullivan, Margaret Lesko, Max Lesko, Betty Williams, Bill Drisko, Madonna Crowley and James Drisko. She is survived by one sister, Judith Lemmons, Towne Park, Brazil, IN as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Wednesday October 18, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. Noon at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 2322 North 13 ½ Street, Terre Haute, IN 47804. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. until Mass time on Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47804 was entrusted with arrangements. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to St. Jude Hospital for Children or Shriners Hospital for Children.
