Obituary

Robert Eugene Abbinett Jr., 56, of Terre Haute, passed away unexpectedly May 11, 2022 in his home.  Rob was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on July 25, 1965 to Robert Eugene Abbinett Sr. and Catherine Ann Archer Abbinett.  Rob was a member of New Life Fellowship.

Rob served in the United States Air Force, Marines, Army, and Air Guard over 34 years of service, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.  He served 3 tours of duty; one in Afghanistan, and two in Iraq.  Rob had a deep responsibility for his country; he always strived to be the best, and to do the best he could.

He also worked for the Terre Haute Police Department for 12 years.

Rob worked for IU Health Lifeline as a nurse, since 2005.

He was a member of the Breakfast Optimist Club, American Legion 104, and the Wayne Newton Post 346. 

Rob loved fishing, he made several trips to Canada, Tennessee, and the Boundary Waters to fish.  He also enjoyed bargain hunting, shopping at Big Lots, and Terry’s shop on Lafayette Ave. He also enjoyed growing tomatoes.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Chris Abbinett.

He is survived by his parents, and wife, Laure Abbinett (m.1997), sons; Evan Richard (Kate), and Logan Abbinett (Amber Kuska), daughters; Jessica Rosane (Truitt), Haley Hayes (Ryan), and Mia, grandchildren; Chloe Kuska, Liam Boyd, Evelyn Richard, and Henry Richard. Survivors also include sister-in-law, Maryann Bayless, and nephew, Garreth Abbinett.

Visitation for Rob will be Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 3 pm - 5 pm at New Life Fellowship, 7849 Wabash Avenue, Terre Haute, Indiana, 47803. Services will follow at 5 pm. Pastor Jeff Harpole will officiate. Military rites will take place at the church as well as a presentation from IU Health Lifeline. Online condolences can be made at www.grienerfuneralhome.com
