Robin Winniski Obituary

Robin Lynn Smith Winniski passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025.  Robin was born July 6, 1957, in Clinton, Indiana to Darrel B. Smith and Mary M. Lawson Smith.  She grew up in Clinton attending Matthews South Elementary and was a 1975 graduate of Clinton High School. She began her working life while participating in the Co-op program during her senior year.  She moved to Terre Haute and worked for several different companies in the area. Her last job was at Sycamore Engineering, working with their kind and generous employees before an illness caused her to retire early.  Robin was known for her playful (and sometimes ornery) sense of humor...if she "flipped you the bird", you knew that you were liked. She was creative and had a sharp focused mind that allowed her to sit on the ground for hours searching for "Indian beads" or four-leaf clovers.  We are grateful that, at Westridge Healthcare Center, she was able to live her last few years in a place that not only accepted her but embraced her playfulness as well as her grumpiness.  Many thanks to the staff and residents there.  We also extend our gratitude to the compassionate nurses at Keystone Hospice who cared for Robin in her final days.

Robin was preceded in death by both of her parents; her sister, Darlene Smith Harris: her brother, Michael Evan Smith: and several furkids.  She is survived by her son, Dan Winniski; daughter in law and loving, fierce advocate, Amanda Winniski; grandson, Abe Winniski; sister, Luann Smith Levi; sister, Teri (Roger) Clark; and several nieces and nephews.

She didn't always make it easy, but we loved her.

Cremation was chosen with a memorial bench to be placed on "Snow Hill" in Deming Park sometime in the near future.  No services are planned at this time.
