Ruth Odessa Gallion

March 25, 1922 ~ April 26, 2021 (age 99)

Obituary

Ruth Odessa Gallion, born March 15, 1922, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2021 surrounded by family members.  Ruth and her husband, James A. Gallion, owned and ran Gallion Hardware in Terre Haute for many years.  She was preceded in death by her husband James, as well as her brothers Richard Sandlin and James Sandlin.  She leaves behind her brother, Ray Sandlin (Thailand), and her four children: Jeanne Ruth McClintock (Terre Haute), Janice Shaw (AZ), Jeff Gallion (FL), and Keith Gallion (SC).  She was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren! Everyone is welcome to gather for her funeral and celebration of life.  Visitation will be at Union Christian Church on Thursday, April 29, 2021, from 2:00p.m. to 4:30 p.m., with service following.  Pastors Todd Payton and Mark Grayless will officiate.  A graveside service will be on Friday, April 30, 2021, for family only.  Many were touched by Ruth’s kindness and caring.  She was a member of Union Christian Church from 1952, where she served and had many friends.  Even at 99, she was still sending cards to family and friends, working crossword puzzles, and reading.  Her prayer list for others was long.  She always put her family first and had a deep faith in God, as well as a feisty, fun loving independent nature.  Those of us left behind have just been given a very special guardian angel. The family has entrusted Greiner Funeral Home with care and arrangements.
