Sandra Mook Obituary

Sandra “Sandy” Rae Mook of Terre Haute, Indiana, formerly of Denver, Colorado, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2020, after a battle with metastatic breast cancer.  She was 76 years old.

Sandra was born January 28, 1944, in San Diego, California, to Ruben and Juanita Lehr.  They moved to Lakewood, Colorado, when she was a child, where she later graduated from Lakewood High School in 1962.  After graduation, she met and married her former spouse, Kenneth Clay, and they had one child, Tammy, in 1964. Sandra worked in the insurance industry her entire life, first with Travelers Insurance and later with State Farm.  She retired from insurance in 2013 and moved to Terre Haute to be with her daughter, Tammy.  In Terre Haute, she enjoyed being “Grandma Sandy” to her great-granddaughter, Aaliyah. Sandra loved Colorado dearly and missed it after moving to Indiana.  She enjoyed a number of sports, in particular her Denver Broncos.  She was an avid collector, and especially loved Charlie Brown collectibles.  She loved keeping her mind sharp with crossword puzzles and books, enjoyed attending Red Hat luncheons, and supported her daughter by helping with various projects and attending events for the Community Theatre of Terre Haute and Susan G. Komen Central Indiana. She is survived by her daughter Tammy (Mike) Lundborg, also of Terre Haute; three step-grandchildren; one step-great-granddaughter; her father, Ruben (Nina) Lehr of Safford, Arizona; sister Ruthie (Buzz) Chase of Bellevue, Washington; brother, Raymond (Sue) Lehr of Bayfield, Colorado; sister Linda (Mike) Sweeney of Lakewood, Colorado; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins; and various four-legged “grandkids” at her daughter’s farm.  She is predeceased by her husband, Ken Mook, and mother, Juanita Lehr. A celebration of Sandra’s life and scattering of her ashes will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Sandra R. Mook to Susan G. Komen Central Indiana, Hospice of the Wabash Valley, or to an animal rescue of your choice.  Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47804 was entrusted with arrangements.
