Sherrie Rae Zandstra, 49, passed away surrounded by her family, December 6th, 2023. She was born January 1st,1974 to Jerry Gwinn and Hazel Irene (Berkley) Lehman.
Sherrie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She touched many lives and was loved by so many in return. She had a sense of humor and loved to talk. She never met a stranger. She loved to laugh and tried to make everyone around her laugh too. She had such beautiful blue eyes and a welcoming smile, but it was her heart that was the most beautiful thing about her. She always tried to take care of everyone around her. She prayed every night before bed, mentioning everyone she knew by name. It was a long list.
She always knew she wanted to be a mother and it was the greatest joy of her life. She loved Arial more than anything. She was always the first-person Arial went to for advice, celebrations, or an ear to complain to. When she met Brian, she couldn’t have been more in love. She married him even though he was a Chicago bears fan. A pregame argument over whose team was going to be the victor quickly became a Sunday morning ritual. She was incredibly happy to find such a great husband, life partner, and father to Arial. He has supported them both in every way for over 24 years.
She never thought she could feel more love and joy than she did until a year ago when her daughter had a baby boy. She told everyone she knew and met of Baby Arlo that changed her life again. She was so happy that her and Brian were grandparents. She was excited to spend time with him and watch him grow. That love was far from one-sided. Arlo lit up the second he saw his grandma.
She was the best sister and will be missed more than she could even have imagined. She was an amazing, loving daughter that helped take care of her parents for years. She was always special to all of us. There is nothing that will ever feel the same without her here. To never hear her talk, laugh, or give you her opinion whether you wanted it or not seems unthinkable.
Sherrie was survived by husband, Brian, daughter and son in law Arial and Max James, grandson, Arlo, and pups Remy and Bernie; Siblings, Candy Lehman of Terre Haute, Lisa Lehman & Lonnie Banks of Indianapolis, Jerry & Joannie Lehman of Terre Haute; Mother in law Barbara Zandstra, brother in law Craig Zandstra, sister in law Beth Zandstra; Nieces, Ashley Roe (Jim) of Greenfield, Megan Lehman of Terre Haute, Nephews, Jordan Buckhoy (Brodi) of Terre Haute, Patrick Lehman of Greenwood, Connor Zandstra of Highland; Great Nieces, Jasmine, Natalie, and one Great-Great niece Maelynn; Great Nephews, Clayton, Gabriel, and Dalton; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
