Stacey Muncie Obituary

It is, indeed, a weird thing to write your own obituary. But considering that I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, it works for me. I’ve been blessed to have been born and raised in Terre Haute. Some form of my family has been here for 150 years, and when I figured that out, I started jokingly (but not really) telling people that I’m the Hautest.

I’m also so lucky to have the best family a girl could ask for, starting with my husband, Jerry who is my best friend, partner in adventure and love of my life. Also, our daughter, Maddie, of whom we are so proud for her grit, work ethic and amazing ability to make other people feel valued.

Not to mention my dad, Rudy Stakeman, who always told my sisters and me that with hard work we could do anything we wanted. He also taught me how to properly negotiate for things like cars—a great skill to have. And also my mom, Linda Roberts, who fostered in me a creative streak, and who’s seen some of her own tough times, and has been an example of such strength.

My sisters, Kylie Douglas and Kerry Baugh, with whom I’ve spent so many times sitting around the table, drinking coffee and laughing a lot. They get me.

I have also had the extremely good fortune of being part of the Rose-Hulman family, which is both supportive and has provided the benefits that allowed my own kid to attend Rose, following in her dad’s footsteps.

That’s why I’m establishing a special scholarship for local students, to help and encourage them in the best way I can. And it’s why I’m asking everyone: Please, NO flowers, plants, or knickknacks. Instead, please take what you would have kindly spent for those things and contribute directly to this cause via the address or link provided below. It’s so very important to me.

Come love on my family from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, March 13 at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N 13th Street. As per my wishes, there will be no services, just a visitation. Thank you all for being awesome.
