Tante Vaughn Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tante Vaughn, a beacon of love and inspiration to all who knew her. Tante's journey began on February 26, 1979, in Gary, Indiana, where she entered this world prematurely, defying the odds and proving to be a true miracle.

From her earliest days, Tante faced adversity with resilience and determination. Raised by her loving parents, Oneida and Melvin Blakely, and birthed by Jacquelyn Robinson, Tante's life was a testament to the power of strength and perseverance

Though her early years were marked by struggles with abandonment and adversity creating a bully persona called 'Big Renee'. Tante's story took a profound turn when she found solace and guidance in her faith community. Encouraged by her youth pastors and church family, Tante embraced a new path filled with hope, purpose, and love adopting a new persona 'Ms Tee'.

Tante's impact was far-reaching and profound. As the founder of the Girls of Excellence Mentoring program, she provided invaluable guidance and support to countless young girls, empowering them to navigate life's challenges with resilience and grace in schools and clubs around the Midwest. Tante's dedication went beyond mentoring; she actively worked to address pressing issues facing youth, co-authoring the book "My GPS: Navigating Youth Through Troubled Times." This collaborative effort served as a beacon of hope for young people, offering practical advice and guidance for navigating the complexities of adolescence.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Tante cherished her role as a devoted wife to her husband, Tim Vaughn, and a beloved daughter and her siblings: Derrick (Inita) Blakely, Tayna Blakely, Amy Pace,  Kerry Johnson, Terry (Janice) Johnson, Lawanda Blakely, Melvin (Dorlita) Blakely, Armando (Karemia) Blakely, Daniel (Nicole) Blakely,  Carl (Tamesha) Blakely, Joel Blakely, Josiah Blakely, and Tomego Collins. Despite the challenges she faced, Tante remained connected to her biological mother, Jacquelyn, finding solace in their sporadic interactions and connections with family in Kentucky.

Tante's legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of all those she touched. From the children she cared for to her nieces and nephews, everyone under her wing will forever remember Ms. Tee. Her infectious smile, unwavering faith, and boundless capacity to love will be cherished and honored always.

A celebration of Tante's life held on 2/27/2024 at Highland Church, 2400 Silvan Road, West Terre Haute, Indiana 47885, at 12:00pm. Visitation will be from 11:00a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to support those facing hardship, honoring Tante's memory and legacy of compassion.

Though Tante may have departed this world, her legacy of love will continue to illuminate our lives for generations to come.
