Thatcher Ray Gaither, age 86, of Terre Haute, passed away peacefully at 3:04pm on
Saturday, July 26, 2025, in his home, after a very courageous battle with Parkinson’s.
He was born in Linton, IN on July 15, 1939, the son of the late Paul Clark and Martha
Lorraine (Brogan) Gaither.
He retired after 38 years as a Unit Manager for the Kroger Company. He enjoyed
playing golf, and for many years, spending time at his and Shelva’s home in Clermont,
FL. Most of all, he was loyal and dedicated to his family.
Thatcher leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Shelva (Baker) Gaither; daughter,
Lisa Gaither; son, Bradley Gaither; and grandson, Luke Gaither. Additionally, his canine
grandson’s, Hank and Einstein and his cat, “Baby.”
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert Ulysses and James
Bradley Gaither.
Greiner Funeral Home oversees his arrangements. Per Thatcher’s request, he will be
cremated with no funeral service. The family would like the thank the amazing staff at
Providence Health Care, Union Hospital, and Hospice of The Wabash Valley for the
professional and compassionate care he received. Special thanks to Tracy
