Vera Mae Benefiel

Vera Mae Benefiel, 67, beloved mother to 4 children of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away in Terre Haute, Indiana, on December 9, 2024, leaving a void her family cannot fill.  Vera was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming on January 2, 1957 to William James Geher and Dorothy Leola Elkins.  She attended North Vigo High School and worked for Kroger’s for 32 years.  Vera married the love of her life, Dennis James Benefiel on September 21, 1985, in Terre Haute, Indiana.  She enjoyed many wonderful adventures with him throughout the years which included camping and fishing, as they had a combined love of the outdoors.  He will never be able to forget the love she brought to his life.  Vera was a devoted mother to James Allen Rader (Amy Rader), Brian Keith Rader (Dawn Brown), Jeremy Wayne Rader (Amber Jones), and Jason Michael Benefiel.  She was a dedicated grandmother to 10 grandchildren Graedyn Rader-Northcut, Zoe Rader, Kelsey Myers, Keegan Rader, Jaxon Benefiel, Breanna Whitford, Braedyn Rader, Lance Rader, Parker Rader, and Olivia Rader.  She had 6 great grandchildren as well, Kynlee Myers, Sadie Myers, Ensleigh Rader, Laiklyn Whitford, Lukas Whitford, and Kynlee Rader.  Vera M. Benefiel was preceded in death by her parents, as well as brother Jerry Notter.  She is survived by sisters Vicki Arena, Theresa Lohse, and Gina Geher-Tremmel, and brothers Randy Nutter and Larry Winkley.  Vera absolutely adored her beloved dog, Willow.  She was a dedicated member of the Eagles 291 (Past President), Outdoor Recreational Club, and the Riley Legion.  A celebration of life is planned in her honor at a later date.
