Verna Mae Lemmons Fredericks, 91, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2020. Verna was born on August 29, 1928 to Virgil and Myrtle Lemmons. She grew up in Rosedale, but her final years were in southern Vigo County. Verna was married to Max Fredericks, whom she raised four daughters with. Jack Edwards (Mike), Debby Hamilton (Steve), Cindy Fredericks, Kate Wyrick (Paul), were their pride and joy. She also thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren; Tracy Foreman (Andy), Kurt Hamilton (Jenny), and Billy Hamilton (Stacey). Verna also has three great grandsons, Tyler, Kody, and Weston with a great granddaughter on the way. She also loved and doted over her faithful companion Mickey, a miniature Australian Shepard. Verna loved spending her time outdoors, whether it was tending her flowers, fishing, mushroom hunting, or working on the garden. Well into her 80’s, she was still push mowing her yard and making sure nothing was out of place. If the weather allowed, you could always find her outside. She thoroughly enjoyed having family over for a meal, always making sure to have a cherry pie for Kurt. One of her many talents includes sewing. Many people have enjoyed her handmade dolls and crafts over the years, setting up at the Covered Bridge and different crafting events. Her witty sense of humor, hard work ethic, and devotion to the family will never be forgotten. Verna is survived by her immediate family as well as one brother Sherman (Rene) Lemmons. She is preceded in death by both parents, her husband, and two brothers Raymond and Freeman (Curly) Lemmons, as well as one sister Julie Lemmons Hendrix. Graveside services are scheduled for Friday, March 13, 2020, at 11:00a.m. in New Harmony Cemetery. Pastor Jeff Lee will officiate. Greiner Funeral Home has been entrusted with care and arrangements.
