Wallace J Wilcox Sr. was born October 20th, 1937, To McKinley M. Wilcox and Iva Lou Owens Wilcox., In Terre Haute, Indiana. He passed away at Union Hospital March 9th, 2025, at the age of 87 years old.
Joe graduated from Garfield High school in 1956. He later was drafted into the Army and served in Korea, where he was honorably discharged, in 1963. After coming home from Korea, he met the love of his life, Ruby May Hampton, whom he married in 1970. He was employed at Quaker Maid until the plant closed down in1979. He loved to collect things. It didn’t matter what it was, as long as it was a matching set. His hobbies, included gardening, fishing and baking. These were some of his passions, he especially loved to bake cakes and pies. He had an incredible sweet tooth. He was a loving, father and devoted Friend to all who knew him, and was always willing to help anyone in need if it was within his powers. He will be Missed.
Joseph Wilcox leaves behind two sons: Wallace Joseph Jr and Ivory DeWayne Wilcox. Wallace Jr> wife Stacia and four grandsons, Marques, Bryan, Malcolm, and Darius and four Great grandchildren Katty, Saige, Sofia and Serena. His Sister Cynthia and her Husband Willie Neal, of Visalia, CA; and their daughter Jackee Neal and Numerous Nieces and Nephews and cousins and a host of friends.
He Proceeds in Death by his wife Ruby May Hampton Wilcox, his Parents, McKinley and Iva Lou Wilcox, his Brothers: Marcellus, Theodore, David, Sylvester, Isaac and James, His Sisters: Ella Mae Owens, Clara Furman and Hershella Wilcox.
Visitation 10am-11am and Service on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 11:30am at Greiner Funeral Home 2005 N.13th St. Terra Haute, IN 47804. Burial at Highland Lawn Cemetery : 4420 Wabash Ave, Terra Haute, IN 47803.
