William (Mike) Duggan (73) ended his wonderful ride on the Blue Marble and slipped peacefully into the greater cosmos on Thanksgiving, at home and with his beloved wife and best friend Denise by his side. Mike was one of a very few who truly did it "his way."
Former Hamilton Center addictions counselor and then owner of Duggan's Conversation Bar, Mike was a bit conflicted about that paradoxical twist in his career paths. But, he thrived on paradox and relied on it as a pathway to the troubled souls of his addictions clients. Mike had an innate ability to drive to the core of his client's problems, -- with respect, humor and compassion. He had been there. He knew the troubled road, -- all too well. His positive impact on the lives of so many cannot be overstated.
Mike never stopped helping others find their way, even after he left Hamilton Center. In his open and welcoming home, in front of his huge statue of Buddha, Mike continued being that beacon of light for anyone in need. He never gave up on the power and determination of the human spirit. The world is a better place for a life well lived.
With regret and apologies for their grief, Mike leaves behind his wife Denise, daughter Chris (Steve) Shaffer, their children, Logan and Ella, son Sam Duggan (Nicole Sowell), his children Drew and Will, and brother Don (Erica) Duggan, mother-in-law and father-in-law Shirley and Bob Parkhurst, 4 brother-in-laws and their wives, and 2 sister-in-laws and spouse, and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. During his final days, Mike talked lovingly and often about his departed father and mother, Sam and Helen ("Shug") Duggan.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 2nd, 4-7:00pm, at Greiner Funeral Home, for family and friends. Masks required. There will be a brief service at 7pm. On Friday, December 3rd, Mike will be interred next to his mother at Highland Lawn Cemetery, in a suit bought by his mother, -- like new and rarely worn. The funeral procession will depart from Greiner Funeral Home at 12:30pm on Friday. Please meet in the Southeast parking lot. (Corner of Buckeye and 13 ½).
