Patricia Marilyn Dyer Hunsucker was born on October 21, 1924, in Aberdeen, SD and passed away at age 93, on January 6, 2018, in Terre Haute, IN where she resided at Westminster Village.
She is mourned by many family and friends who loved her compassion, resilient spirit, intelligence, and quick wit. She graduated from Aberdeen High School and completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism magna cum laude at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in Terre Haute in 1984. She and her family lived throughout the upper Midwest and West in association with her first husband’s employment with the Milwaukee Railroad (including Aberdeen, SD, Savannah IL, Portage, WI, Chicago, IL, and Harlowton, MT) before settling in Terre Haute. Her most recent employment before retiring was with the Vigo County Schools and Commercial Solvents/IMC. She was artistically talented and an avid bridge player.
She was preceded in death by her parents Olga Herman Dyer and Von Haskell Dyer (of Aberdeen); two sisters Vivian Dyer Reese and Dorothy Dyer Center; her husband Jerry Hunsucker (of Terre Haute); and her first husband Guy Chamberlain (of Aberdeen) and their sons Clark Chamberlain and Craig Chamberlain.
She is survived by daughter Kristen Chamberlain and granddaughter Kjerstan (of Terre Haute); son Von Chamberlain (of Indianapolis, IN) and his daughters Tricia and Tracey; daughters Beth Ann Sutor (of Greenwood, IN), Luana Jean Patterson and Jerri Thomas (both of Portage, MI); and son Bryan Kurt Hunsucker (of Paragon, IN). Many others hold her dear including 12 more grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, 11 nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren, and family members’ spouses whom she embraced as family.
Her ashes will be interred in the Dyer family plot at Riverside Cemetery in Aberdeen in the Spring.
